(Australia, 23rd) The Australian Chinese Museum, located in Sydney’s Chinatown, officially opened on the 22nd. Australian Prime Minister Albanese attended the opening ceremony and praised the 'contribution, ambition, and hard work' of Chinese Australians.

After the ceremony, Albanese wrote on social media platform X: "Our stories shape our national identity. They remind us who we are, what we have built together, and what we must always protect. Here, stories of the contribution, ambition, and hard work of Chinese Australians will be commemorated and celebrated for generations to come."

A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said that, as Chinese New Year is celebrated across Australia and the Year of the Dragon is welcomed, the official opening of the Chinese Museum demonstrates the government's ongoing commitment to strengthening Australia’s multiculturalism and honoring the stories that shape our national identity. "The museum invites all Australians to learn about the important role the Chinese community has played in the development of Australia."

According to reports, the Australian Chinese Museum is dedicated to sharing and preserving the rich history, traditions, and culture of Chinese Australians. By uncovering and sharing stories from the community, the public can gain deeper insight into the contributions that Chinese Australians have made to the Australian way of life.

The museum’s Chief Executive Officer, Choy Yuen, said the museum’s goal is not only to tell the story of the local Chinese community. "We hope to place the story of Chinese Australians within the wider context of Australia’s historical development, and to present Chinese Australians as an important part of the process of building modern Australia."
