According to China News Service, the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology held its plenary session on Wednesday (July 8) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In his speech at the meeting, Cai Qi said that since the 20th CPC National Congress, the vast number of science and technology workers, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, have achieved remarkable innovation results and are truly worthy of being an outstanding team fully trusted by the Party and the country, as well as the backbone force in building a powerhouse in science and technology.
Cai Qi stated that the "15th Five-Year" period (2026 to 2030) is a key period for China to lay a solid foundation for and give full play to basically achieving socialist modernization, as well as a critical stage for overcoming difficulties and conquering challenges in building a powerhouse in science and technology.
He expressed hope that the vast number of science and technology workers will firmly uphold the aspiration to serve the country, courageously assume the mission of self-reliance and self-strengthening, lead social civilization and fashion, promote openness and cooperation in science and technology, carry forward the fine tradition of China's science and technology sector in serving the country and benefiting the people, adhere to the path of indigenous innovation with Chinese characteristics, and run the "crucial leg" in the journey to accelerate the building of a powerhouse in science and technology.
