(Kuala Lumpur, 6th) The Director General of Education has issued an urgent directive, immediately suspending all projects with risks or involving water activities until further notice, in order to ensure student safety.
This decision was made after the unfortunate deaths of two teacher training college students.
The Ministry of Education has simultaneously launched an internal investigation mechanism to thoroughly investigate the sequence of events, and stated it will fully cooperate with the police investigation to clarify the cause of the accident and responsibility.
According to the Ministry of Education’s statement, officials were sent to Alor Setar Hospital after the incident to understand the situation, and visited the Kangar Teacher Training College to meet with students, listening to their accounts and feelings about the incident.
The authorities emphasized that the primary task at this stage is to provide the greatest support and assistance to the families, accompanying them through this difficult time.
"Every teacher trainee is a child we have personally recruited. We are all deeply saddened to have lost two outstanding future teachers."
The Ministry of Education extends its deepest condolences to the two deceased, and prays for their peace and strength for their families.
