Lorry Driving with High-Tipped Bed Pulls Down Cable Poles, Traffic Lights, and Lamp Posts

(Johor 11th) A sand lorry driver did not realize that the lorry bed was still "tipped high up" and not flat; as a result, while driving, it pulled down the cable poles, traffic lights, and lamp posts in front of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tiram school.
According to an 11-second video circulating online, the lorry bed was not lowered, causing the lorry to pull down the cable poles during transit, which then led to a domino effect where other lamp posts and traffic lights also fell.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Kumaraasan confirmed the incident in a statement today, stating that the lorry driver had filed a police report.
He said the accident occurred around 3:20 PM yesterday after the lorry driver unloaded sand near Tiram.
"The driver later stated that he was not aware that the lorry bed was not lowered."
"Upon reaching the scene, the lorry directly pulled down the cable poles there, leading to the collapse of three nearby concrete lamp posts."
Kumaraasan indicated that the 69-year-old male driver from the local area had reported the incident to the Iskandar Puteri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit and provided a statement afterwards.
"The driver's urine test result was negative; he was not injured, and there were no reported injuries or deaths of road users."
Therefore, police are investigating this case under Section 43 (1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act (reckless driving causing an accident).
