(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) — A former AEGIS Secure Solutions Sdn. Bhd. security guard was sentenced to three years and four months' imprisonment and four strokes of the cane for sexually assaulting two boys aged 11 (Victim X) and 18 (Victim Y).
The judge sentenced the defendant, Mohamad Firdaus (36, local resident), to imprisonment on each count, and ordered the sentence to commence from the date of his arrest on 26 June 2025.
According to the case facts, at around 9 p.m. on 17 June 2025, Victim X and his three friends (including Victim Y and his friend) were resting in the parking lot of a mall in Kuala Belait, intending to use Wi-Fi. During this time, Victim X knocked on the defendant’s car window to ask whether he had any money or food.
The defendant did not offer Victim X any help, causing Victim X to approach another car to beg for money or food.
It was raining heavily at the time. The defendant then drove up to Victim X and called her into the car, saying, "Come over, uncle is going shopping." As Victim X was very young and unsuspecting, she got into the car.
The defendant then took Victim X to a residence in Kampong Mumong. Upon arrival, the defendant ordered Victim X to undress, but Victim X refused.
The defendant insisted, told Victim X to go to the washroom, again demanded her to undress, and promised to give her 40 dollars if she complied. Victim X refused again.
The defendant then suggested that Victim X stay at his house, but she refused. Afterwards, the defendant assaulted Victim X's chastity.
Victim X then told the defendant that her mother was a police officer to threaten him and asked the defendant to take her home.
Soon after, at around 10 to 11 p.m., the defendant drove her to the Mumong Bypass, near Victim X's home.
When they arrived in the area, Victim X’s friends, including Victim Y, were also there.
The defendant then instructed Victim X to be friends with Victim Y, then Y approached the defendant, who took Victim Y into the car and drove away.
Victim X subsequently called the police. Victim X’s mother then formally lodged a police report.
Meanwhile, between 10 and 11 p.m. the same night, the defendant offered Victim Y 40 dollars to come home with him. Victim Y was interested and agreed. After they arrived, the defendant ordered Victim Y into the house and forced him to go to the toilet.
Then the defendant entered the toilet with Victim Y and locked the door. The defendant subsequently ordered and forced Victim Y to perform indecent acts and assaulted Victim Y. Out of fear, Victim Y complied.
At about 11:26 p.m. that night, several police officers arrived and knocked on the door. On hearing the knocking, the defendant instructed Victim Y to keep silent and remain in the toilet.
The defendant, who was only wearing underwear at the time, then went to the police station. After investigation, police arrested the defendant, and later found Victim Y at the defendant’s residence.
During the police investigation, the defendant admitted to the above offenses.
Records show that the defendant had related previous convictions.
