24-year-old Korean actor Hong Min-ki has recently become embroiled in dating violence allegations. An influencer, identified as 'A', who has about 20,000 followers, posted on Instagram on the 19th, hinting that she was subjected to violence by Hong Min-ki. She revealed she had sent him a legal warning letter through a law office and made part of the document public, accusing him of smashing a bottle on the street, as well as “striking her shoulder, pushing, and grabbing her by the neck” during his violent actions.
According to the warning letter made public by A, Hong Min-ki is accused of verbal abuse, threats, and violent behavior. A alleges that he once threw and smashed a soju bottle at her on the street, causing her fear and severe psychological trauma. In addition, she accuses Hong Min-ki of intruding into her privacy by checking her messages due to suspicion, and even, when unable to contact her because her phone was off, suspected A was seeing her ex, calling over 40 times, and threatening, “If I find the two of you, I plan to kill you.” A further claims that, enraged by her ex, Hong Min-ki shouted, “I’m going to kill that XX.”
In response, Hong Min-ki’s management company ‘Fable Company’ denied the allegations, clarifying, “This is not factual.” As for the actual relationship of the two parties and sequence of events, the company is still verifying the facts and is in ongoing discussions about how to respond moving forward.
Hong Min-ki debuted in 2020. In 2023, he began to garner attention for the thriller drama ‘The Night Has Come,’ and the following year appeared in ‘Love on a Tightrope’ as the high school version of Joo Ji-hoon’s character. He subsequently acted in dramas including ‘Dear X,’ and ‘Love on the Isolated Island,’ and this year was nominated for Best New Actor at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards for ‘Beloved Thief, My Darling.’ Most recently, he finished filming ‘Thug Book Club 2.’
